Liam Rosenior has just been interviewed after defeat against Everton, and was asked about what he was learning as things turn sour at Chelsea.
“I’m learning about this club. It’s a massive club,” Rosenior told Sky Sports.
“There’s been a lot of noise, a lot of negative noise, rightfully so, [because of] our performances in the last week. But we’ve had 10 games in the league together as a group. We’ve got 17 points. I think we’re fourth in my time.”
Without wanting to be cruel, stats are always the last refuge of the desperate manager. We may well be 4th in the league since he arrived, but that ignores a) the fact that he had a very easy run of games to start with b) he hasn’t won any of the games since they got tough c) we were well beaten twice in the Carabao Cup and twice in the Champions League in that time.

The manager claimed that it wasn’t a lack of effort or tactical mistakes that were costing Chelsea – but insisted he didn’t want to blame the players.
Rosenior also blamed “mistakes” for the goals Chelsea were conceding – but we’re going to need a bit more than that.
