Despite a turbulent start to the new campaign, Ruben Amorim continues to enjoy the backing of both the Manchester United hierarchy and his dressing room, with senior figures urging patience as the Portuguese coach navigates his first full season in charge.
Sources close to Sky Sports report that director of football Jason Wilcox has informally canvassed player opinion at Carrington, with a clear consensus emerging, the squad remains firmly behind Amorim’s methods. Players such as Bryan Mbeumo and Mason Mount have publicly praised his leadership, while others have privately expressed faith in the club’s long-term vision.
Minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has already made his stance clear, insisting Amorim will be given three years to prove himself. Ratcliffe’s view reflects a shift towards stability at Old Trafford after years of managerial upheaval. “Football is not overnight,” he recently said. “We have to be patient.”
While United’s start, sitting 10th in the Premier League after seven games, hardly inspires confidence, performances have hinted at progress, with United recently beating Sunderland convincingly in a 2-0 win. Yet, there are still frustrations, notably limited minutes for Kobbie Mainoo and Joshua Zirkzee, but the atmosphere within the club is described as the most “united” it has felt in years.
