Manchester United could face a larger bill to part with Ruben Amorim than first expected.

According to Glorioso 1904, a filing to the New York Stock Exchange sets out a provision of £15.9m, about €18.17m, as the maximum potential payout to the coach and his staff.

That figure is above the roughly €11m initially indicated at the time of the termination. A provision is a reserve for possible future costs, suggesting the financial impact could be significant.

In the same document, covering the second quarter of the 2025-26 season, United also record €7.2m in amortisation linked to hiring the coach from Sporting, which has now been recognised as a loss.

The filing does not spell out why the full amount might be due. The situation adds to the club’s financial pressure as they seek sporting stability and a steadier balance sheet. Amorim’s next step remains unclear.
