Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has issued a warning to Marcus Rashford.

Amorim will make his Old Trafford debut on Thursday night as United host Bodo/Glimt in the Europa League.

In his pre-match press conference, the new manager admitted that number nine is not Rashord’s ‘best’ position.

He said (via ManUtd.com): “I will try to help him. That position is not the best one for him, especially in a game like that.

“We have to kick with high pressure – we have to kick the ball so many times, and it was like fighting with two giants.

“We’ll try to find the right solution for him, as for the other players.

“But he has to be Marcus, first of all, to try to return to that moment, and then he will have all the help of the staff, the club and the fans because he’s a Manchester United boy.

“But he has to be the first one to want it.

High time for Rashford to step up at Man United

Rashford led United’s attack against Ipswich Town on Sunday. He made a flying start, putting his side ahead inside two minutes.

It looked like the goal could revive his dull season, but he failed to have any impact on the game after his early goal.

The 27-year-old had 13 touches and won only one of his five duels.

Amorim was unimpressed and seemingly does not believe that Rashford could thrive as a striker under him.

The England international has worked under seven different United managers after making his senior club debut under Louis van Gaal in 2016.

It is always challenging for a player to succeed in turbulent times with a constant change in leadership.

Rashford has played over 400 games for the club, bagging 136 goals and 63 assists.

He was once hailed as a future superstar but has yet to fully realise his potential, with consistency being his biggest challenge.

While it’s no secret that Rashford prefers playing on the left wing, Amorim’s 3-4-3 system doesn’t offer him that role.

His work rate isn’t sufficient for a wing-back position, leaving him to play as a lone striker or as a number 10.

Rashford has been a loyal servant to the Red Devils and understands the club’s core values.

However, it is time for the £50 million-rated star to step up and deliver results consistently.

If he fails to meet expectations, the club must consider moving on from him next summer.
