Man Utd have just one win on the road this season
Ruben Amorim has said he cannot pinpoint why Manchester United struggle so much away from home as they prepare to face Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Sunday.
United have won just once away from home this season, a miraculous late win over their bitter rivals Liverpool.
Their away record is in stark contrast to their home form, with United winning four of their six league games at Old Trafford, and Amorim has admitted that there are several issues his side needs to improve on the road.
“It is hard to point at one thing why we are not winning away. There is a lot of issues that we are improving. Like I say, we have advantage in the away games, but we need to know how to finish the games in order to win,” Amorim said in his pre-match press conference.
“The same things that we need to do to show to the players why we lost control of Forest, why we lost control against Tottenham. And if you look at those games, they were there to win. Sometimes a small detail can change everything.
United have looked much improved at home this term, having recorded their joint-most home defeats in a single campaign last season.
However, they suffered their second defeat at Old Trafford on Monday as 10-man Everton came away with all three points.
Amorim said there was a noticeable drop in intensity from his side against Everton and bemoaned their failure to control the game.
He continued: “Then I felt this year when we play at home, the intensity is higher, and I felt in this game at home the intensity was not at the same level, so I think it is something that we need to work on.
“If you look at the game, we can play better. Everything that happened in that game, we should have won that game.
“We have to feel that urgency of winning games. We know what happens around the club if we do not win games. If we know that, let's do everything in the right way, but again, we lost that one. We cannot change that, let's focus on the next one.”
