Rui Costa on alert as Nicolás Otamendi leaves door open to River Plate

Nicolás Otamendi has acknowledged River Plate’s interest while insisting his focus remains on Benfica.

According to Glorioso 1904, the subject has already reached club president Rui Costa.

Arriving for Argentina duty, the Benfica captain was asked about the new River Plate coach’s wish to sign him. He said he had met Eduardo Coudet once, offering no further detail.

Otamendi added that he has a Benfica deal until June, and that if River open the door in the summer, he will see.

This season for Benfica, Otamendi, valued at one million euros, has played 43 competitive matches, 24 in Liga Portugal Betclic, 14 in the Champions League, two in the Taça de Portugal, two in the Taça da Liga and one in the Supertaça. Across 3,809 minutes he has scored three goals.
