Benfica have suffered a late-window setback, with Wesley poised to leave Al Nassr for Real Sociedad, according to Fabrizio Romano. The development is unlikely to please Rui Costa after the forward had been linked to the club.
The Basque club have an agreement to take the Brazil under-20 international on loan until the end of the season, with an option to buy for around €12 million.
The Basque side accelerated their move following an unexpected injury to Takefusa Kubo. They also feature former Benfica academy standout Gonçalo Guedes.
Wesley had been discussed by Benfica, who held talks with Al Nassr. Despite negotiations progressing, the deal collapsed as the Lisbon club were unwilling to meet the Saudis’ financial demands.
This season for Al Nassr, Wesley, valued at €5 million, has played 18 matches, nine in the Saudi League, five in the AFC Champions League Two, two in the Super Cup and two in the King’s Cup. Across 1,036 minutes, he has scored four goals and provided two assists.
