MC Alger head coach Rulani Mokwena has confirmed his team's interest in Orlando Pirates sensation Relebohile Mofokeng.

This comes after the club's supporters had been piling pressure on the hierarchy to show more ambition by luring the Bafana international to North Africa.

Mofokeng had been subject of a potential move away from Pirates, with a host of clubs keen on acquiring his services, but any potential deal is yet to materialize at this stage.

Now, Mokwena has since revealed that the Algerian champions are one of the interested suitors but acknowledged the player has firmly set his sights on plying his trade in Europe, given his talent.

“You have to understand two important things, the first is that the coach is not above the ecosystem, I belong to this organization, to the club and we have to work within the means of the football club,” said the South African tactician.

"So, for an example, I know the fans want Mofokeng, and believe me I want Mofokeng as well. He's a South African player I speak to also about certain things in South African football. But it is not a transfer that's [easy to complete], not just from a financial perspective.

"I can tell you that the player has had many offers and has set his sights on going to Europe. So, I can talk about it because it's just as an example that the club is ambitious, the club has explored that possibility but the player has no ambitions to play in Africa.

Meanwhile, Mokwena's men are 11 points clear at the summit of the Ligue 1 standings after securing a last-gasp win over CS Constantine on Monday night.
