Ryan Roberto made his senior Flamengo debut after recovering from a right thigh injury, playing 21 minutes in the defeat to Bangu. According to Globo.com, the 17-year-old now hopes for more opportunities.
Flamengo’s alternative side will be used at least until the match against Volta Redonda on Saturday. After that, coach Filipe Luís should mix reserves with starters until the Supercopa do Brasil on 1 February in Brasília.
He said he was disappointed with the result and aware of the fans’ frustration, but described the occasion as unique and very special. After two months out, he is focused on improving physically and tactically to help and to seize future chances.
A regular in the under-20s since 2026, he is a right-footed winger who often operates off the left. He worked with Filipe Luís at under-17 level in 2024 and has trained with the first team at times this season. In 2025 he scored 22 goals in 37 games, leading Flamengo’s two main youth categories.
He added that the debut was only another step and that he must keep training, work hard and dedicate himself to earn more minutes and be ready to respond on the pitch.
This season he has prioritised his physical and psychological preparation, gained significant muscle mass and shown it in matches. Barcelona in Spain, Shakhtar Donetsk in Ukraine and Ajax in the Netherlands have monitored him. To sign him now would require 50 million euros, or R$ 325 million, his release clause.
