Samir Nasri is being scrutinised by the French tax authorities, who suspect he resides in Paris despite being officially a Dubai tax resident, according to Les Échos. Dubai has minimal personal taxation.
In 2022, Nasri placed 212 Deliveroo orders to a Paris address. The seemingly trivial detail could prove costly.
A lifestyle review, supported by airline records, indicated he spent most of his time in the French capital in recent years rather than the United Arab Emirates. He also owns a property in Paris and works as a Canal+ pundit.
If treated as a French resident, he faces a possible €5.51m tax reassessment, comprising €5.25m in income tax for 2020-2022 and €82,000 in property wealth tax for 2019-2025.
To secure payment, the Treasury has requested a judicial mortgage over his Paris home and the seizure of some bank accounts. Nasri, 38, a former Marseille midfielder and France international with 41 caps, contests the allegations.
