Manchester United have reignited their interest in Benfica left-back Samuel Dahl, as per reports.
Dahl joined the Portuguese club during the winter transfer window of 2025 from AS Roma on a loan deal. Initially, he had to wait for regular minutes as he found himself behind Alvaro Carreras in Lisbon.
The former United talent left Benfica for a big-money move to Real Madrid last summer, opening the door for Dahl to join the Eagles permanently and become Jose Mourinho’s first-choice left-back.
According to Record (via Sport Witness), Manchester United have identified Samuel Dahl as a potential left-back signing for the summer window.
United monitored Dahl during his time at Djurgårdens IF in Sweden before he joined AS Roma. That decision did not work out as hoped, with the Swede managing just three appearances for the Serie A giants.
However, the 23-year-old’s performances for Benfica have once again raised eyebrows at Old Trafford. On Wednesday, the Portuguese newspaper published a report with “Dahl seduces United” written in bold.
It is claimed United have sent their scouts to watch Dahl more than 10 times this season. He has been directly involved in four goals in 46 appearances across all competitions.
Record state: “The English club appreciates the full-back’s physical robustness and the fact that he has already shown at Benfica his ability to adapt to various systems and even different areas of the field.”
Dahl’s development and impact under Mourinho have reportedly convinced United to consider making an offer in the next window.
However, it remains unclear how much the Red Devils would be willing to spend on the Sweden international, especially as he is not the only full-back on their radar.
With Tyrell Malacia set to leave United as a free agent at the end of the summer, the club’s hierarchy cannot afford to ignore the left-back area ahead of next season.
Recently, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming United have been offered Arsenal left-back Myles Lewis-Skelly amid the Englishman’s struggles under Mikel Arteta. The technically gifted player is under consideration at Old Trafford.
United have also been strongly linked with Barcelona star Alejandro Balde. However, as things stand, both the Spanish club and the player are not too keen on parting ways.
