Samuel Lino marks one year since his Flamengo debut, reinvented under Leonardo Jardim and largely untouched by criticism during the post-World Cup slump.

According to Globo.com, the 22 million euros signing had a turbulent start, debuting in a 1-0 loss to Atlético-MG on 31 July 2025, then missing in the return-leg shootout alongside Wallace Yan.

He responded with two goals and three assists in an 8-0 win over Vitória, was booed in a 0-0 with Cruzeiro, yet scored the strike that clinched the Campeonato Brasileiro.

His take-off came in 2026. Under Jardim he drifted inside rather than staying fixed on the left as with Filipe Luís, sometimes taking on playmaking duties.

With Arrascaeta back against Inter, Lino returned to the left and scored to avoid defeat. In five months with Jardim he has seven goals and 12 assists, surpassing six and eight across seven months under Filipe Luís, and he has played 70 times in a year.

That Inter goal leaves him three strikes from a double-double this season, now ahead of Bruno Henrique. Current tallies: Samuel Lino seven goals and 15 assists, Pedro 21 and five, Arrascaeta seven and two, Bruno Henrique eight and eight.

In contrast, Saúl also completes a year but has struggled, with 37 matches, no goals and three assists. The Spaniard had left ankle surgery early this year and has lately remained an unused substitute.
