Santos agree deal to sign Lucas Veríssimo from Al-Duhail | OneFootball

According to Globo.com, Santos have agreed a deal to sign Lucas Veríssimo from Al-Duhail, and the defender will sign a three-year contract with an option for a further year.

The club will pay about €four million, R$24.6 million, for 70% of his economic rights, with the fee spread over four years and the first instalment due in December.

Veríssimo, 30, returns to the club five years after leaving. A youth product, he joined Benfica in January 2021, had a short spell at Corinthians, then moved to Qatar. He has been on loan at Al-Wakrah from Al-Duhail.

Agent Paulo Pitombeira acted as a go-between with the Qatar government to help finalise the move.

Amid tensions in Qatar linked to conflicts in the Middle East, his family wanted to return to Brazil for good.

Since the weekend, attacks by the United States and Israel on Iran have left the country’s population on alert, and football there is suspended.
