Santos close on Gabriel Menino loan from Atlético-MG | OneFootball

Santos are moving to sign midfielder Gabriel Menino from Atlético-MG on loan until the end of the season, with an option to buy.

The 25-year-old is being targeted to offset the expected departure of Victor Hugo, whose sale from Flamengo to Atlético-MG has been set in motion. The move was first reported by Diário do Peixe.

Santos approached Atlético-MG for Menino, and the Belo Horizonte club did not obstruct talks, helped by their pursuit of Victor Hugo.

Victor Hugo’s transfer is expected to be around 2.5 million dollars for 50% of his economic rights.

Menino is valued for his versatility. A Palmeiras academy product, he can play centrally, on the right of midfield, and even at full-back if needed.

Once Menino arrives, Santos plan to refocus on Felipe Loyola. The Chilean midfielder’s move depends on approval from Huachipato, which has stalled negotiations.

Menino would be Santos’ second addition of the season and should be available to Juan Pablo Vojvoda for the second round of the Paulistão against Palmeiras.

Before him, the club announced Gabigol, who is eligible to make his debut on Saturday at 16:00 Brasília time against Novorizontino at Vila Belmiro.
