Santos have completed a sweeping first-half overhaul, with three sales and 18 loans among 38 exits, plus six arrivals including Gabigol and Lucas Veríssimo.

Director of football Alexandre Mattos led the loan moves and the termination of defender João Basso. Tomás Rincón remains outside plans, with an amicable exit sought even if that means paying a few more months of wages, according to Globo.com.

Left-back Souza’s sale to Tottenham is the headline deal, with Santos advancing the fee abroad and already receiving R$ 80 million. Guilherme joined Houston Dynamo, Nonato moved to Fluminense, and Flamengo’s sale of Victor Hugo to Atlético-MG yielded Santos 10%.

The 18 loanees include Andrey Quintino to Confiança, Enzo Monteiro to C. Cheonju, Sandry to Criciúma, Zanocelo to Ceará and Nathan to Juventude. Also out are Luisão to Goiás, Kevyson to Ponte Preta, Patrick to Remo, Hayner to Vila Nova and Alexis Duarte to Libertad. Andrey Quintino’s move drew criticism after two recent renewals despite being out of plans.

Gustavo Caballero to Portsmouth and Tiquinho Soares to Mirassol are not expected to return. Others, such as JP Chermont to Coritiba, were sent out for minutes and could come back.

Eight contracts expired and seven players left for free. Alfredo Morelos also departed after a R$ 7 million dispute notified in January, he failed to report and the club await a resolution.
