Santos rest Neymar and fellow starters from training before Vasco test | OneFootball

According to Globo.com, Neymar and the other Santos starters were rested from Tuesday's main training at CT Rei Pelé. Sunday's meeting with Novorizontino sealed their Paulistão elimination.

The No 10 and fellow starters only took part in the warm-up with the group, then sat out the rest of Juan Pablo Vojvoda's drills.

Physical fatigue was given as the reason. The group are due to work on the pitch on Wednesday, the final session before facing Vasco in the fourth round of the Brasileirão.

Reserves and those not involved completed two sessions, one technical and one tactical.

A possible Santos XI has Gabriel Brazão in goal, a back four of Igor Vinicius, Adonis Frías, Luan Peres and Vinicius Lira, with Escobar an option. Willian Arão, Gabriel Menino and Gabriel Bontempo are listed in midfield, with Zé Rafael also in contention, and a front three of Neymar, Gabigol and Rony.

The Vasco fixture carries weight for Vojvoda's future. Santos are seeking their first league win to ease pressure on the staff.
