Neymar’s involvement against Remo will depend on a medical assessment after Santos’ training on Monday at CT Rei Pelé.

Santos visit the Mangueirão on Tuesday at 21:30, Brasília time, with a Copa do Brasil quarter-final place at stake, according to Globo.com.

There is internal concern over his physical condition and the risk of injury after successive games following the World Cup. The checks include a CK test, a routine muscle monitoring tool.

After time off at the end of Brazil’s campaign, he returned on the 25th and played 90 minutes in a 2-2 draw with Chapecoense. Three days later, in the Sudamericana against Universidad Central of Venezuela, he came on at half-time in a 4-2 win. Last Saturday, he completed the first leg against Remo at Vila Belmiro, making it three games in a row.

Santos will travel on Monday afternoon to Belém. Neymar is expected at his institute’s auction in São Paulo hours later, a schedule not viewed as problematic despite a flight of a little over three hours. He would use a private jet to join the squad in Belém, subject to the medical assessment and injury risk.

With the tie level, Santos need a win to reach the last eight. If it is drawn again after 90 minutes, the match will go to penalties.
