Santos without Rollheiser at Grêmio, Rony likely to start | OneFootball

Santos will be without Benjamín Rollheiser for Saturday’s Campeonato Brasileiro trip to Grêmio, with Rony likely to start. According to Diario Do Peixe, the Argentine has a muscle problem and did not travel to Porto Alegre.

The match, for the 17th round, kicks off at 7pm Brasília time at the Arena do Grêmio. Rollheiser skipped the final on-field session as he continued treatment.

Álvaro Barreal is also unavailable after a suspension in the previous league round. Neymar remains sidelined, called up for the World Cup with Brazil, and is recovering from oedema in his right calf after a knock against Coritiba. The club, working with the CBF, has chosen to rest him before he reports to Granja Comary.

The treatment room also includes João Schmidt, Gabriel Menino and Thaciano, all with muscle injuries to the back of the right thigh.

There is better news with Luan Peres cleared after completing concussion protocol, so he is available again. Christian Oliva has travelled despite muscle pain, though he is short of peak fitness.

With attacking options depleted, Rony is in line to be named in the starting XI. A probable Santos XI is Gabriel Brazão, Igor Vinícius, Adonís Frías, Lucas Veríssimo, Escobar, Willian Arão, Gustavo Henrique, Miguelito, Gabriel Bontempo, Rony and Gabriel Barbosa.

Santos arrive under pressure, sitting 16th with 18 points, the same tally as Corinthians, who occupy the first relegation place. Another slip could leave them in the bottom four at the end of the round.
