Sarabia faces fan anger after comparing Elche to Real Sociedad’s resources | OneFootball

Eder Sarabia has provoked a backlash from Elche supporters after comments made at Anoeta following defeat to Real Sociedad.

According to AS, the Elche coach spoke of a vast gap between the clubs, noted his side had trained at Zubieta, and likened rivals equipped with heavy weaponry to his own team armed only with a slingshot.

Many Elche fans flooded social media to criticise the remarks, viewing them as a slight on the club and an excuse amid poor form.

Elche have lost three successive LaLiga matches and are only two points above the relegation places, having played one game more than Rayo Vallecano, who occupy the first spot in the drop zone.

Sarabia is associated with an attractive, attacking approach and oversaw a strong first half of the season. The results have dipped, and nerves are beginning to surface in Elche.
