Schalke remain top of the 2. Bundesliga after a 1-1 draw at relegation-threatened Greuther Fürth, with the top five now separated by two points.

Dennis Srbeny put Fürth ahead, then Dejan Ljubicic levelled with 15 minutes left, his second in as many games.

Heiko Vogel's side remain in trouble, with Preußen Münster and Magdeburg level on points and both playing on Sunday. Holstein Kiel replaced long-time coach Marcel Rapp with Tim Walter during the week.

Walter began with a 1-1 home draw against promotion-chasing Elversberg. After the break David Mokwa put the visitors ahead, then Jonas Therkelsen equalised. A Hoffenheim loanee, signed to cover for Younes Ebnoutalib, has impressed since joining Elversberg.

Paderborn climbed to second with a third win in four at out-of-form Kaiserslautern. They scored in added time at the end of both halves, before Kenny Redondo's 98th-minute consolation. Calvin Brackelmann and Filip Bilbija struck to move them within a point of Schalke.

Hannover are fifth but only two points off Schalke. Enzo Leopold's penalty earned victory at Arminia Bielefeld for Christian Titz's team. Since losing to Kaiserslautern in their first game of 2026, they have taken 16 points from six.
