Kjell Scherpen (25) will continue his career at Union Saint-Gilloise. The Brighton goalkeeper seems well on his way to joining the Belgian champions, with both clubs in negotiations.

Earlier today, Het Nieuwsblad reported that Scherpen is close to a transfer to Union. The goalkeeper, who was part of the Dutch national team during the last international break, has not been training with Brighton for some time, sources told VI. This appears to be related to the impending transfer.

Last season, Scherpen played for Sturm Graz. In Austria, the goalkeeper impressed and was part of the team that won the championship. This sort of form also allowed him to join the Dutch national team when Bart Verbruggen withdrew due to an injury.

Now the former Ajax stopper is on his way to the Champions League. Union wants to present Scherpen soon, and it appears they’re waiting for a highly anticipated final agreement.
