Norway reached the 2026 World Cup quarter-finals for the first time in their history after defeating Brazil in the last 16, having previously knocked out Ivory Coast.
Benfica winger Andreas Schjelderup supplied the cross for Erling Haaland’s opener. According to Glorioso 1904, the striker lauded the header for 1-0 and said the second goal felt almost like a gift, calling the occasion crazy.
Haaland said he wished he could be out on the streets at home celebrating with supporters, insisting the nation should savour the moment. He felt he had hit new peaks again during the tournament and labelled the day one of the wildest in Norway’s history.
Norway now await the winner of Mexico versus England to learn their quarter-final opponents.
Head coach Ståle Solbakken struck a balanced note, saying they could beat anyone but could also lose to anyone. He stressed the need to start again in preparation for the next test.
Solbakken added that the players would get a short breather and enjoy themselves before the squad travel to Miami.
