FC Bayern have repeatedly been linked with the signing of Nico Schlotterbeck. The Borussia Dortmund central defender could leave BVB in the summer of 2026 – and is already considered one of the most sought-after defenders in Europe.

At a DFB press conference on Wednesday, Bayern defender Jonathan Tah commented on the ongoing transfer rumours surrounding his national team colleague. „We haven’t talked about it. It’s an exciting situation for Nico. He’s an outstanding player who is always working on himself and wants to get better,“ said Tah, praising the Dortmund player.

The 28-year-old sees Schlotterbeck in a decisive phase of his career and even offered him support: „I hope he makes the right decision. All doors are open to him. If he needs advice, I’m always there!“

Bayern’s interest remains concrete

According to consistent information from BILD and Sky, Bayern have been keeping a close eye on Schlotterbeck for years. Should Dayot Upamecano decide against extending his contract and leave the club, Schlotterbeck could become the top option for central defense.

Munich particularly value his intelligence, his strength in tackles and his ability to build up play from the back – qualities that fit in perfectly with Vincent Kompany’s style.

Tah is convinced that Schlotterbeck has the potential to succeed at FC Bayern.
