Second VAR audio test should take place at Lyon v Lorient | OneFootball

A second test of live audio for VAR-related decisions should take place during Lyon v Lorient on Sunday.

According to L'Équipe, the trial is planned for Sunday at 20:45 in Lyon, a match refereed by Benoît Bastien.

The first experiment took place on 3 April during PSG v Toulouse, which ended 3-1. Referee Éric Wattellier was mic'd to explain any VAR-related decisions to the crowd and television audience.

No contentious incident required the feature that night, so the exercise offered little to judge. There is hope Sunday’s game produces a scenario that allows the system to be used.

Further tests could be staged before the end of the season and, if they are conclusive, a general rollout could follow in 2026-2027.
