The Senegalese authorities have taken a decisive step to ensure stability on the technical bench. With the 2026 World Cup on the horizon, the government has confirmed its intention to strengthen Pape Thiaw's position by approving a salary increase aimed at securing his future at the helm of the national team.
"He achieved his objectives by qualifying the team for the World Cup and winning the AFCON. You don’t change a winning team, do you?"
The Senegalese executive thus aims to provide a fully secure environment for its head coach.
"As we aspire to become the first African country to win the World Cup, we must put our coach in optimal conditions to perform," the minister emphasized,
highlighting a strategy focused on calm and continuity.
