Sevilla’s future has been thrown into doubt after takeover talks with a consortium led by Sergio Ramos collapsed. The group had negotiated for months, but a deal now looks unlikely.
El Correo de Andalucía reports that purchasing group Five Eleven altered the terms of a January agreement that envisaged paying €450m for 86,000 shares, granting majority control.
Following due diligence, the revised proposal was reportedly around €250m for 30,000 shares, with payment spread over the next year. That would hand Ramos and Five Eleven influence without full control, and is set to be rejected by the majority shareholders.
The club has been a focal point of supporter unrest for three years, with repeated protests against the board. The bid had seemed a route to resolution, but that prospect is now off for the time being.
With no clear project in place, manager Luis Garcia Plaza is awaiting clarity on his position despite a deal running to 2027. There had been talk Ramos wanted to lure Getafe coach Jose Bordalas, and he is also in limbo.
Sevilla had delayed calls on next season while the takeover played out. Sporting director Antonio Cordon has left after it was decided he would not continue.
