The Serie A matchday 38 Turin derby between Torino and Juventus, due to start at 20:45 on Sunday, was delayed on safety grounds after clashes between supporters.

A Juventus fan was taken to hospital in a serious condition. According to DAZN, Juventus's president and chief executive, Damien Comolli, said supporters in the stand asked captain Manuel Locatelli not to play.

The league had scheduled the derby to coincide with fixtures involving Milan, Côme and Rome, with all three also chasing the final two Champions League places. A Juventus win could secure a return to the Champions League.

Supporters in the away section were said to have warned Locatelli they were ready to enter the pitch if the game started despite the circumstances.

They later left their section when players returned to warm up at about 21:20, and kick-off was expected around 21:45.
