Juventus are on the brink of clinching the Serie A Femminile title after they edged out reigning champions Roma in Sunday’s encounter. Elsewhere, Madelen Janogy’s hat-trick proved to be in vain in Fiorentina’s 5-3 away defeat against AC Milan.
Here, we will round up all the latest action from the 2024/25 Serie A Femminile season.
AC Milan prevailed in Saturday’s eight-goal thriller against Fiorentina. Evelyn Ijeh calmly slid the ball past Cecilie Fiskerstrand to get the hosts up and running in the 22nd minute. The Swedish attacker quickly added a second to take her Serie A tally to 10 goals for the season. Fiorentina’s Madelen Janogy pulled a goal back shortly before half time after Milan goalkeeper Noemi Fedele gave away possession.
The home side quickly moved through the gears at the start of the second period to net three goals in 13 minutes. Giorgia Arrigoni saw her shot deflect in off Stine Ballisager Pedersen’s head, before Monica Renzotti showed great composure to net her first goal in Serie A Femminile. Emma Koivisto then got in on the act to take the game away from the visitors.
The deficit may have been too big to overturn, but there was still time for Janogy to complete her hat-trick. The forward guided the ball home from close range to grab her second, before she curled a left-foot shot past Fedele to net her third and restore a degree of respectability to the scoreline.
Juventus could clinch the title in their next outing after they moved 10 points clear of second-placed Inter with a narrow away win over Roma on Sunday. Emma Stølen Godø scored her first Serie A Femminile goal to open the scoring inside the opening 10 minutes. The Norwegian created space on the edge of the box, before she curled an unstoppable shot in off the far post. Forward Sofia Cantore then added a second just past the half-hour mark, winning the ball back deep in the Roma half, before racing into the box to blast a right-foot shot past Camelia Ceasar.
Valentina Giacinti halved the deficit in the 83rd minute when she guided the ball home from Sanne Troelsgaard’s long pass forward. However, it ultimately proved to be too little too late as Juventus saw out the remainder of the contest to claim a narrow victory. While the hosts are now on the brink of claiming the Scudetto, Roma remain in third position with just three games left to play.
Sampdoria remained rooted to the bottom of the table after they suffered a heavy defeat to Lazio at the weekend. After playing out a goalless first half, the visitors went on to score three goals in the space of 12 minutes in the second period. Clarisse Le Bihan opened the scoring when she thumped the ball home from an indirect free-kick just inside the box. Noemi Visentin then guided the ball in from close range to double Lazio’s advantage.
Just moments later, Visentin won a penalty when she was brought down by Sampdoria’s Vanessa Panzeri. Flaminia Simonetti stepped up to send Kathrine Larsen the wrong way to register her third league goal of the season. The defeat has kept Sampdoria a point adrift of safety with just three games left to play.
Sassuolo had to wait until the 76th minute to score the decisive goal in Sunday’s away meeting with Napoli. Elena Dhont powered a header Doris Bačić after she timed her jump to meet Davina Philtjens’s inviting cross. Dhont’s third league goal of the season proved enough to seal back-to-back victories. As for Napoli, they are just one point above the relegation spot following a fourth defeat in five matches.
