“The Mateta move was about the future and not the present. We tried to lock him down and then found this physical problem and decided not to go ahead with it.

“The team has done very well so far. Leao has had a little problem in recent weeks. Pulisic has some issues as well, but we’re happy with the ream and want to move forwards without looking for excuses.”
