Napoli drew 2-2 with Hellas Verona in Naples this evening, in a disappointing result for Antonio Conte’s side – yet one that saw them fight back from two goals down to pick up a point at the very least.

Football Italia’s Man of the Match was Verona midfielder Antoine Bernede.

Napoli 2-2 Verona – Player Ratings

NapoliMilinkovic-Savic 6; Buongiorno 6.5, Rrahmani 7, Di Lorenzo 7.5; Gutierrez 6 (Spinazzola 6), McTominay 7.5, Lobotka 7, Politano 6; Lang 7 (Lucca 6), Elmas 6 (Marianucci 7); Hojlund 6

Best Napoli Player: Scott McTominay – although an honourable mention to Giovanni Di Lorenzo for improving on recent performances. McTominay’s goal brought Napoli back into the game and the Scotsman worked tirelessly to help his side fight back.

Lowest Napoli Rating: Miguel Gutierrez – The wing-back struggled today and was taken off before an hour even elapsed. His passing was poor and his defending was average, wasn’t the best of displays.

Coach: Conte 5.5 – If we’re being honest, this should have been a simple three points for Napoli. However, despite dominating on possession, Conte’s side did not offer enough to take the three points – especially in the first half. Subs did little to inspire.

Verona: Montipo 6, Valentini 6, Bella-Kotchap 6, Nunez 6.5; Frese 7, Bernede 7.5, Gagliardini 7, Niasse 7.5, Bradaric 6 (Nelsson 6); Orban 7.5, Sarr 5 (Giovane 6)

Best Verona player: Antoine Bernede – I was very impressed by the Frenchman today, despite not coming away with any goals or assists. His defensive work was generally excellent and he created a handful of chances by himself for the visitors. Looked comfortable and competent, in keeping with recent performances.

Lowest Verona rating: Amin Sarr – Played 64 minutes before being substituted for Giovane and was less than impactful despite his team’s strong performance in the first half. He was marked thoroughly by Napoli’s defence, who overwhelmed him on more than one occasion. Touched the ball just 21 times before being taken off.

Coach: Zanetti 8 – That’s how you rock up to the Champions’ home and show them what you’re made of. A bit of luck on their side definitely helped but the coach structured his team in such a way to absorb and nullify much of Napoli’s dominance and pressure. Made subs when needed and did enough to secure at least the point.
