Financial police in Milan have dismantled a criminal organisation operating in the city centre, which used an events company as cover. Gazzetta reports that its clientele included Serie A players and a Formula 1 driver.
The group arranged nights out at exclusive clubs, then sexual services in luxury hotels.
The investigation was coordinated by deputy prosecutor Bruna Albertini and carried out by Milan’s Economic and Financial Police Unit, which amassed substantial evidence against suspects allegedly acting with other members, including escorts and public relations staff.
The firm’s turnover exceeded 1.2 million euros. Four people were arrested, described as the organisation’s alleged leaders.
They face severe counts of complicity and exploitation of prostitution, as well as money laundering from illicit activity.
Names of at least 50 clients were redacted by the investigating judge in Milan, covering not only footballers but other athletes, the report said.
The network also supplied nitrous oxide, known as laughing gas, a substance that induces euphoria without leaving a trace. Packages, often offered after matches, could include a club night, a hotel and an escort, and within these packages the gas was permitted because it would not be detected in checks.
