Newly-promoted Ternana celebrated their first Serie A win of the season at the weekend. Meanwhile, leaders Roma edged out Lazio in the Derby della Capitale on matchday six.
Ternana secured their first Serie A win of the season at the sixth time of asking. Cimo Giada Pellegrino broke the deadlock inside the opening 15 minutes at Stadio Enzo Ricci. Pellegrino fired in from close range after a cross from the left flank fell kindly into her path. The visitors had to defend resolutely to hold on to their slender advantage, claiming their maiden league win and their first clean sheet of the Serie A season. As a result, the basement side have moved to within two points of 11th-placed Sassuolo.
Roma bounced back from consecutive defeats in all competitions with a crucial win over local rivals Lazio. Lucia Di Guglielmo scored the game’s decisive goal just before the half-hour mark, moments after Valentina Bergamaschi had a goal ruled out for offside. The left-back collected Evelyne Viens’s cross on the edge of the box, before she cut across the ball to fire it into the top corner. The hosts had a potential second chalked off for a foul in the closing stages of the contest, but it ultimately had little impact on the result, as they stood firm at the opposite end of the pitch to claim all three points.
Leaders Roma are three points clear of Como, who are proving to be somewhat of a surprise package this term. They moved into second place with a dramatic 1-0 win over AC Milan on Saturday. The entertaining contest produced one scored penalty, two missed spot-kicks and a Milan red card. Evelyn Ijeh spurned the chance to give Milan a half time lead, when she blazed her penalty over the crossbar in stoppage time.
It was then Nadine Nischler’s turn to miss a spot-kick, firing her effort against the frame of the goal as the game moved past the hour mark. Nischler was given the chance to make amends for that miss when she went to the penalty spot in the first minute of stoppage time. The referee quickly dismissed Milicia Keijzer for denying a goalscoring opportunity, before a lengthy delay ensued to establish whether the foul had taken place inside or outside the box. After consulting with the monitor, the referee pointed to the spot for the third time in the contest. Nischler handed the pressure to calmly slot home and clinch all three points for the hosts.
Reigning champions Juventus saw off Genoa in Sunday’s home contest. Amalie Vangsgaard headed in the opener midway through the first period. Cristiana Girelli then quickly added a second to consolidate Juventus’ advantage. The striker’s third league goal of the season proved to be the final goal of the game, with the win moving the hosts to within one point of the top three.
Elsewhere, Inter’s winless run now stands at five competitive matches after they failed to take anything from their away meeting with Napoli. The visitors were left frustrated when they had a goal ruled out for offside in the opening stages of the second period. Tessa Wullaert also rattled the woodwork in Inter’s bid to find an opener. However, it was Napoli who found the all-important breakthrough in the 82nd minute. Cecilie Fløe Nielsen embarked on a solo run from just inside the Inter half, before she put herself in a position to slide home her third league goal of the season. Napoli are now in fifth spot with 10 points to their name, leaving them one point away from the European qualification spots.
Meanwhile, Fiorentina missed the chance to clinch a fourth consecutive victory in their away meeting with Parma. The visitors were awared a penalty in the opening stages of the second period after Lina Hurtig was brought down in the box. Emma Severini slowly stepped up to slot the ball home to register her second league goal of the season. To Fiorentina’s frustration, their slender lead was quickly wiped out by Parma’s Gaia Distefano. The 23-year-old scored in a second consecutive home game to ensure the spoils were shared.
Inter are still waiting for their first away league win of the season. Last season’s runners-up have taken just one point from their opening three road trips of the 2025/26 Serie A campaign.
Cecilie Fløe Nielsen gets the nod for her sublime winner in Napoli’s home clash with Inter. The Danish striker cleverly spun away from one Inter player just inside the opposition half, before she drove through the middle of two more defenders to calmly slot the ball through the goalkeeper’s legs.
Sassuolo 0-1 Ternana
Parma 1-1 Fiorentina
Como 1-0 AC Milan
Napoli 1-0 Inter
Roma 1-0 Lazio
Juventus 2-0 Genoa
