With the summer window nearing, Sunderland, long safe and still eyeing an outside chance of Europe, are weighing up reinforcements. Regis Le Bris has built a robust defence, but extra goals could sharpen their push.
According to Sunderland Echo, last summer’s continental moves, from Noah Sadiki and Robin Roefs to Nordi Mukiele, Brian Brobbey and Granit Xhaka, underpinned progress. Seven further European options could fit the model.
Strasbourg striker Joaquin Panichelli, 23, has 16 goals in 27 Ligue 1 matches and offers a focal finisher who links play. Toulouse centre-back Charlie Cresswell, also 23, brings aerial strength, composure and leadership. Despite Panichelli’s deal to 2030, a move from a mid-table side may be attainable.
Utrecht left-back Souffian El Karouani, 25, adds overlapping threat and assists, giving balance on the left. Como’s 21-year-old creator Nico Paz has 10 goals and six assists in 29 Serie A outings and can operate centrally or wide.
Braga’s Rodrigo Zalazar, 26, has 15 league goals alongside assists and the engine to boost creativity and steel. AZ Alkmaar forward Troy Parrott, 24, has 14 goals and four assists in 23 Eredivisie games, adding pace and versatility.
Ajax winger Mika Godts, 20, has 14 goals and nine assists in 26 league outings, bringing pace and end product out wide. He also fits Sunderland’s recruitment profile.
