Sevilla are keeping Mexico firmly on their recruitment radar as Luis García Plaza focuses on securing survival. According to Ekrem Konur, Tigres winger Ozziel Herrera is being monitored, with Porto also in the mix, and Cruz Azul captain Erik Lira has been watched alongside Benfica, Valencia and Feyenoord.

Herrera has eight goals and four assists this season and offers direct, two-footed wing play. His sharp close control and ability on either flank suit Sevilla’s need for width. Transfermarkt values him at six million euros, which could be challenging but attainable.

Lira, developed at Pumas UNAM and now Cruz Azul’s skipper, is a combative holding midfielder known for intensity and tactical balance. He recovers the ball well, uses it cleanly and has even stepped in as a libero in a back three. He has also gained senior Mexico recognition under Javier Aguirre.

Sevilla’s ties with Mexican football continue to grow. Former Sevilla players Lucas Ocampos, Óliver Torres, Tecatito Corona and Anthony Martial are all at Rayados de Monterrey, a club also linked to Sergio Ramos.

Mundo Deportivo reports that Rayados could be Matías Almeyda’s next destination after his spell in Nervión.
