The second Steel City derby of the season takes place this Sunday
The second Steel City derby of the season between Sheffield United and Sheffield Wednesday is now less than one week away, meaning both sets of supporters will be feeling a multitude of emotions in the days leading up to the lunchtime kick-off on Sunday, February 22nd.
It has been an intriguing Championship campaign for the Blades, whilst the misfortune of their cross-city rivals, the Owls, has been documented at length, largely due to several facets beyond performances on the pitch.
With both teams knocked out of the FA Cup in the third round at the hands of Mansfield Town and Brentford respectively, Chris Wilder and Henrik Pedersen were overseeing second-tier action over the course of the most recent weekend, with United defeating Portsmouth 1-0 at Fratton Park through Andre Brooks' last-gasp winner, whilst Wednesday succumbed to a 23rd league defeat of the campaign at the hands of promotion-chasing Millwall at Hillsborough.
Despite taking the lead on the hour-mark with their first competitive goal since Boxing Day through Jamal Lowe, the Dane's side would suffer a 2-1 defeat to a Lions side which included modern-day Owls icon, Barry Bannan.
Such developments coupled with Blackburn Rovers' 3-1 victory at Queens Park Rangers mean that Wednesday could suffer the Championship's earliest-ever relegation to League One at Bramall Lane of all places on Sunday, as they remain on minus seven points as a result of two separate points deductions after entering administration in October, as well as further financial breaches.
Unsurprisingly, an encounter where local pride is at stake, as well as the aforementioned contextual magnitude, will be broadcast to the watching nation. With that in mind, Football League World have rounded up all the important pre-game information you need to know regarding TV scheduling and more.

As was the case for the return fixture at Hillsborough on Sunday, November 23nd, the second Steel City derby of the 2025/26 season was selected for broadcast by rights holders, Sky Sports.
In fact, the encounter was pencilled in for live screening 16 days before the first derby of the season ended in a 3-0 win for United courtesy of a double from Tyrese Campbell and a Tom Cannon strike, which saw Wilder's men climb out of the division's relegation zone in the process.
Normally, a matchup of such importance is often seen on Sky Sports Main Event (channel 401) and Sky Sports Football (channel 403). However, in this case, the two side's second face-off of the campaign will only be available to watch on the latter, with the pre-match buildup lasting one hour between 11AM and the 12PM kick-off in S2.
The encounter should end at approximately 1:45PM, meaning the post-match debate, which could surround the confirmation of Wednesday's relegation back to League One for the first time since 2023, will last in the region of 45 minutes.
The game can also be broadcast on Sky's Sky Go app, but there will be no live stream available on other platforms.
Audio passes can be purchased on either club's respective streaming services, with both United and Wednesday charging £4.50 for a monthly subscription.

Unsurprisingly, the encounter at Bramall Lane is set to draw a sell-out crowd close to the stadium capacity of 32,050.
On United's website, there is an alert that the last tickets available are still there to be taken up, whilst the Wednesdayites have sold their 2,000 allocation in the lower tier of the Bramall Lane stand.
The encounter in S2 last season ended 1-0 to United through another Campbell winner, whilst Wednesday haven't emerged victorious on enemy territory since 2009.
As unlikely as that is to happen on Sunday, supporters will hope that barren run comes to an end, and that an inevitable relegation is not confirmed at the expense of their bitter rivals, who could narrow the gap on the Championship's play-off positions with another three points.
