The Owls were left in a difficult financial position by previous owner Dejphon Chansiri, and the search for his replacement has lasted several months.

But the group led by Storch, Arise Capital, were named as the preferred bidder by administrators Begbies Traynor in March.

Ratification is still needed from the EFL in order to finalise the agreement, and supporters will be hoping a resolution is found as quickly as possible.

Henrik Pedersen’s side have already suffered relegation from the Championship, and will want to get to work on planning for life in League One.

Here we look at all the latest news surrounding the takeover situation at Sheffield Wednesday

Prospective new Sheffield Wednesday owner Storch has been issued a warning about the importance of structure at the club by coach Giles Coke.

He believes that improving the Owls goes beyond just bringing in better players, but involves implementing a better structure from top to bottom, including improving the training facilities and Hillsborough.

When asked what the key is to taking the club forward, he responded, via The Star: “Just structure.

Even when I played here, I've always felt like there hasn't really been a proper structure at this club, and especially for the size of it.

“And that's from the top.

“I'm not just talking about players-wise or manager-wise, I'm talking from the top all the way down to the academy. There needs to be a proper structure in place, training ground, etc.

“The stadium, because Hillsborough is an amazing stadium.

“But if you look at it, it does look a little bit run down.

“It does need freshening up.”

David Storch targets 1 May

It has been reported that 1 May is being targeted by Storch as the day that his takeover of Sheffield Wednesday will be completed.

However, there are still no guarantees that this can be accomplished in that time, with a lot of work needing to be done to get ratification from the EFL.

Sheffield Wednesday are facing the prospect of transfer restrictions and a 15 point deduction penalty for next season following Storch’s proposed takeover, with negotiations underway between the American and the league over the possible sanctions.

The 1 May date is also significant because that is the date that will see the transfer of responsibility from the EFL to the Independent Football Regulator in regards to the ratification process.

The Championship season will also finish on 2 May, meaning it will be a clean break into the next campaign if the takeover can be completed by then.

Murphy Cooper’s Sheffield Wednesday return stance

It has been reported by The Star that goalkeeper Murphy Cooper is open to a potential return to Sheffield Wednesday next summer.

The prospective new owners at Hillsborough will be keen to make some additions to the squad for life in League One, and the 24-year-old has already spent the second half of this campaign on loan from QPR.

When asked if he’d be open to a return, Cooper replied: “Yes, 100 per cent.

“Obviously, I'm a QPR player on loan at Sheffield Wednesday.

“I think my standpoint is that I absolutely love the club.

“I have only played seven games here and I have loved it.

“So I would be 100 per cent open to coming back - and that's something I could definitely want to happen.

“But I think it's difficult in my position.

“There might be a decision out of my hands.

“Obviously, I love QPR, I've been there for 15 years now, so it would be difficult to leave there.

“But if that decision was made, that I wasn't part of their future, then I'd be looking here straight away.”

Pierce Charles linked with Sheffield Wednesday exit

The signing of Cooper could prove quite important for the next Sheffield Wednesday owners, as Pierce Charles has again been linked with an exit from Hillsborough.

It has been reported by Teamtalk that the goalkeeper has admirers at Man City and Coventry City.

The Sky Blues face the prospect of needing to replace loanee Carl Rushworth for life in the Premier League, while Charles came through the ranks in Man City’s academy prior to signing for the Owls.
