Shelbourne FC are pleased to announce the appointment of Nikolay Georgiev as Athletic Development Coach within the Academy on a full-time basis | OneFootball

This appointment marks another significant step in the continued growth of the Reds Academy as the club strengthens its commitment to the long-term physical development of its young players.

Nikolay brings a strong background in athletic development, combining his experience as a player with his academic studies at UCD. Working full-time within the academy, he will play a key role in supporting the physical preparation and development of players across all age groups.

Academy Director Colm Barron welcomed the appointment:

“We are excited to have Nik working with the academy on a full-time basis. It shows the intent we have to support the long-term physical development of our players.

We wanted to ensure we filled the position with the right person, and Nik is an expert in his area. He has a deep knowledge of athletic development through his background as a player and his time studying in UCD. We know our players will reap the long-term benefits of Nik’s appointment.”

Technical Director Luke Byrne also spoke about the importance of the role:

“It is a really positive step forward for the academy to appoint someone full-time in this position, and Nik was the ideal person for the role.

He has a great blend of football and athletic development expertise for someone so young, and he has already made a great impression on everyone at the club. The physical development of our young players is a priority for us, and this appointment puts us in a really good position to continue progressing in this area.”
