Short but sweet spell: defender bids farewell to Corinthians

On the morning of this Friday (2), the fixed player Marlon, who played for Corinthians between September and December this year, bid farewell to the club on his social media. His contract with the Alvinegro was valid only until the last day of the 31st. In 2026, the athlete will play for Selangor FC, in Malaysia. According to Meu Timão, the offer from the Asian team was above the general standards of Brazilian futsal.

At 38 years old, Marlon was signed by Corinthians in the second half of last year and played a key role in the campaigns for the runner-up titles of the Paulista Championship and the National Futsal League (LNF). Previously, before arriving at Parque São Jorge, he played for Yeesco Futsal, which ceased operations after the bankruptcy of its main sponsor.

Playing in the Corinthians jersey, he scored seven goals and provided five assists in 17 matches, with 10 wins, two draws, and five losses. Throughout his career, he played for Carlos Barbosa, Copagril, Inter FS, Palma, and ElPozo – in the latter, he was a champion of the Spanish League and the Champions League of the modality.

With Carlos Barbosa, he won the Futsal Libertadores in 2017 and 2018. With the Brazilian National Team, he won: the International Tournament of France, the Nations Cup, the Copa América, and the Futsal World Cup – the latter in 2024, where he was voted the second-best player of the tournament.

Besides Marlon, other players who have left Corinthians for the 2026 season include pivot Israel Neto, as well as wingers Igor Carioca, Edimar, Luizinho Brizzi, and Luisinho. Those who belonged to the Under-20 team until 2025 have transferred to other teams: Hélio Neves, Andrey, Yann, Axel Muñoz, and Iván Monteros.

On the other hand, contracts have been renewed and/or stays have been confirmed for: coach Fernando Malafaia, goalkeepers Lucas Oliveira, Kelvin, and Vitor Koji, fixed players Lucas Martins, Da Bonja, and Caio Barros, pivot Rick, as well as wingers Renatinho, Maicon, and Vandinho.
