Silver lining for Wolves as Championship travel set to shrink | OneFootball

Following relegation from the Premier League this week, Wolves face a return to the Championship with one consolation, markedly shorter away trips for their travelling support.

According to ExpressAndStar.com, a strong Midlands contingent is expected in next season's division, meaning several fixtures will be little more than short drives.

The standout is West Bromwich Albion, with The Hawthorns barely seven miles from Molineux, which will be the shortest trip of the campaign. Providing Albion avoid relegation to League One, it will be the first league meeting in front of supporters since 2012.

Birmingham City is next, around 12 miles away at St Andrew's, and is expected to draw thousands of Wolves fans down the A41. Stoke City's bet365 Stadium is also comfortably reachable, roughly 45 miles north via the M6, a venue many visitors remember fondly.

Derby County and newly promoted Lincoln City round out the five shortest journeys, with Pride Park about 50 miles and Lincoln approximately 80 miles. If Nottingham Forest join Wolves in the relegation places, that would add another relatively short journey east. For supporters, local derbies, reduced costs and packed away ends could define a far more travel-friendly season.
