The Wales boss was seemingly on the brink of returning to Turf Moor.

Burnley supporters are still none the wiser who their manager will be next season after the latest developments around Craig Bellamy.

It has since been revealed that his move to the Clarets fell through because of an issue with backroom staff, with Wales already planning for his successor, with at least two candidates approached.

Now, Simon Jordan has weighed in on the events at Burnley and has alerted Bellamy about the potential consequences of his actions.

When Scott Parker left Burnley by mutual consent, not many would have thought it would take this long for the club to find an adequate replacement.

Understandably, the Clarets will want to get their next appointment spot on, but with pre-season on the horizon, they face the prospect of that starting without a boss.

Bellamy has a strong link with the Lancashire outfit, having been Vincent Kompany's assistant, and if he had come back to Turf Moor, then it would have been his first foray into club management.

Jordan appeared on talkSPORT and was shown a video of the Welshman appearing to dismiss exit talk just months ago, to which the former Crystal Palace chairman shared his views.

"I don't know whether his people are being very clever and mixing up the opportunity to stay with Wales, but on better commercial terms by batting their eyelids at Burnley and using it as a commercial discussion," he said.

"But when you have an interview like that, it makes it very difficult to take someone particularly seriously when, two months later, they're potentially considering going to a club they've got a link with.

"We all know that he's got a link there, and of course, he'll feel the same way about Burnley as he may feel about Wales because they took a chance with him as a coach."

Jordan then went on to state that he hoped it was a commercial objective played out by Bellamy's team, as his integrity would take a hit.

How Burnley and Wales are intertwined in manager fiasco

The ironic thing about this whole situation is that the two contenders to take the Burnley job following the Bellamy developments are probably also in line for the Wales gig.

It was reported that Rob Edwards and Steve Cooper would be the next in line after the Welshman, and both would surely be considered for the international job given their nationality.

Bellamy will seemingly remain as Wales manager, but given the nature of his actions, it will be interesting to see whether he remains in that job.

Edwards and Cooper are both out of work, and both have earned Championship promotion in their managerial careers, which should appeal to the Clarets.

However, whether they will come to Turf Moor could rest on Bellamy's Wales future, as they could also be tempted to lead their country on the international stage.

With two months before Burnley's opening game against West Ham, the club will want to be prepared, and they must act swiftly if they want to be ready for the new season.

How Burnley fans have reacted to Bellamy news

Understandably, many Burnley supporters are far from pleased with what has transpired, considering how close a deal must have been.

Some have even questioned the club and believe they should have just given the Welshman what he desired.

One fan even weighed in on who he would want to replace Parker, and Bellamy was nowhere near the top of his list.
