Sir David Beckham has been billed as ‘the one’ who could bring Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo together at Inter Miami. According to Goal.com, MLS talk has resurfaced after CR7’s strike action at Al-Nassr.
The rivals have faced off for years but have never shared a team. Any pact remains hypothetical and would require several hurdles to be cleared.
Ronaldo is a frustrated figure in the Saudi Pro League, reportedly unhappy with how the division is run and with uneven transfer spending. He has been ruling himself out of selection.
Speculation surrounds his next move, with a European return debated and a switch to the United States floated. Inter Miami would be in the frame, though doubts persist over whether the two GOATs would truly align.
Former MLS forward Rob Earnshaw said that if it happened anywhere it would be somewhere like Inter Miami, yet he does not think it will happen and believes Beckham would be the person most likely to make it possible.
He added that both are dominant figures, so a neutral team might be the only workable stage, since Inter Miami is widely seen as Messi’s team. Ex-Brazil midfielder Kleberson has called the prospect a dream scenario for the United States.
Ronaldo is on a record Al-Nassr contract extended last summer through 2027, though it could be broken if he is freed to move. Messi has committed to the reigning MLS Cup champions through 2028.
