Six Liverpool stars are gearing up for their final appearance for the club on Sunday.
Sunday brings the final match of the season as Liverpool wrap things up at home to Brentford. It is one that carries some meaning - the Reds must avoid a calamitous defeat in order to secure UEFA Champions League football for next season.
But it's one that carries meaning outside of the result. This will be the final Liverpool appearance for several players and potentially a few more after that.
Mohamed Salah is the headliner here. Salah will depart Liverpool this summer as one of the club's greatest ever players and goalscorers.
will follow him. Robertson has, like Salah, been an integral part of one of the most successful periods in Liverpool's history and leaves as an unquestionable all-time great.
Then there are a few 'maybes'. Ibrahima Konate will leave as things stand as the club have failed to agree a new contract with him. His deal expires on June 30th - though, this could still change.
Alisson Becker has one year remaining on his contract but the Brazilian is heavily linked with a move to Juventus this summer. Liverpool are considering other goalkeepers at the moment and it does appear that they'll let him leave after the season.
Joe Gomez, Liverpool's current longest-serving player, nearly left the club in 2025. In fact, he certainly would have if Marc Guehi joined. Instead, Gomez stuck around and it's expected that the Reds will consider all offers for the defender with only a year left on his deal.
Curtis Jones, the remaining Scouser in the team, is another expected to depart. Jones again has just one year on his deal and nearly left in January, with Inter interested. Liverpool will again consider offers and we imagine accept one, given the interest.
Liverpool Outburst and Slot Friction
As of 22 May 2026, Mohamed Salah remains at the centre of intense controversy at Anfield following a scathing social media statement. Following a 4–2 defeat at Aston Villa on 15 May—where he was used as a late substitute—the 33-year-old publicly criticised Arne Slot's tactics, urging a return to the "heavy metal" football of Jürgen Klopp. The post was pointedly liked by 12 members of the squad, sparking widespread talk of a dressing room revolt, though Slot has since downplayed the friction.
Confirmed Summer Departure
Salah’s legendary Anfield career is officially concluding. Having agreed in March to mutually terminate his contract a year early, he will leave as a free agent this June. A special farewell mosaic is planned for him during Sunday's final match against Brentford.
While heavily linked with a $30 million-a-year move to the Saudi Pro League, reports indicate Salah has given the "green light" to Turkish giants Fenerbahçe as he prefers to remain at Europe's highest level. Roma and AC Milan are also monitoring him. Internationally, he was confirmed on 20 May as Egypt’s captain for the upcoming 2026 World Cup.
