The group led by David Storch completed their takeover of the Owls two months ago, and have been quick to get to work on making big changes behind the scenes.

David Bruce has been installed as the new CEO, with Simon Wilson arriving to take on the role of sporting director.

Wilson will work closely with Henrik Pedersen to rebuild the first team squad for next season, with three additions already through the door at Hillsborough.

Ricardo Santos, Callum Slattery and Jordi Liongola have joined the League One side, with further incomings expected.

However, there could yet be more outgoings after Svante Ingelsson completed his switch to Stoke City earlier this week.

According to Sky Sports (13.15), there is optimism that a deal between Sheffield Wednesday and Manchester City for Pierce Charles can be reached.

The goalkeeper’s future has been the subject of intense speculation since the end of the campaign, with a number of clubs linked with his signature.

However, the Premier League side are now stepping up their pursuit of the 20-year-old, who impressed many with his performances in the Championship last season.

Charles came through the Man City academy system before signing for Sheffield Wednesday in 2024.

The Northern Ireland international has had his fair share of injury issues since breaking into the Owls’ first team squad, but has still managed a total of 27 appearances in the Championship, keeping two clean sheets.

Charles is entering the final year of his contract with Sheffield Wednesday, which has only intensified the speculation surrounding his future.

How Sheffield Wednesday fans feel about Pierce Charles’ future

Sheffield Wednesday fans have largely accepted that Charles’ future likely lies away from Hillsborough, as they hope the club can get a good fee for the youngster.

Some fans believe it should take up to £7 or 8 million to complete a deal.

However, some are conflicted as they feel he could be worth a lot more if they could keep hold of him this summer.

Sheffield Wednesday have until 1 September to complete any remaining transfer business, with the club looking to rebuild the first team squad after a disastrous relegation campaign in the Championship.

Pierce Charles situation has Sheffield Wednesday in a tough spot

A move to Man City is a great opportunity for Charles, even if he will be the second choice option under Enzo Maresca.

But with just one year left on his contract, Sheffield Wednesday don’t have a particularly strong negotiating position.

If they can get a sizable fee from his sale, and perhaps a loan back for the season, then that could further help their rebuild plans.

It will be a blow to lose someone with his potential, but relegation and the many problems behind the scenes before the takeover were always going to make it difficult to hold onto their best players this summer.
