Alexander-Arnold missed Thursday's League Cup semi-final rout over Tottenham after picking up a thigh problem during the previous weekend's win at Bournemouth.

The England international is now set to miss Sunday's FA Cup fourth round tie at Plymouth but could be in contention for the Merseyside derby clash with Everton.

"That's going to be too early for him," said Slot.

"It's difficult to say [for Everton]. It's like I said before, it's not going to take months or even weeks but that's only three days after the Plymouth Argyle game.

"We also don't want to take too many risks with so many games coming up.

"But if he's fit, we will use him."

Slot, who also revealed that midfielder Tyler Morton is facing four weeks out with a shoulder injury, downplayed talk of the Reds mounting another quadruple tilt.

"It's difficult for me to judge because I wasn't here last season so I don't know," said the Dutchman.

"I can only tell you that we, at this moment in time, are in a very good place.

"But we know how long the season is and how many difficult challenges there will still be for us. We are in a good place.

"There's only one downside of beating Tottenham 4-0 because the last time we beat them 6-3 I think it was a week later we beat West Ham 5-0 and that was 'the bar'.

"When we started winning 1-0, everybody was saying 'they don't have the same form anymore!' We are in a good place but I'm not expecting us to win every single game in the manner we won it yesterday.

"We just try to do everything to win every single match and if it can happen like yesterday in such a good and dominant performance that's perfect.

"If not, we have to find another way to win that game."

Liverpool's final-ever trip to Goodison Park is set to be a winner-takes-all affair as they are currently tied with Everton on 41 victories apiece at the stadium.
