Last weekend's 3-2 defeat at Manchester United was the club's 18th of the campaign in all competitions, and 11th in thePremier League.

Liverpool's 18 defeats in all competitions is their most since losing 18 games under Brendan Rodgers in 2014/15. Only three times since the Merseysiders were promoted to the top flight in 1962 have the club lost more games in a single campaign.

The Reds are set to end the season without silverware, with a place in next season's Champions League the sole objective before the conclusion of the campaign.

Slot's side face Chelsea in the Premier League tomorrow lunchtime and the Dutchman has admitted that his squad have struggled mentally with their campaign.

"It always weighs heavy on players if you lose more games than you would want, especially at a club like this," he said at hispre-match press conference.

"These players are used to winning. The moment these players start to lose, that is never a nice feeling to have, especially if you play for this club.

"The performance clearly in the Premier League, we didn't pick up the points we should have. I'm not saying we have had a very good season in the Premier League but we've played better and deserve more points than we are having.

"In the Champions League we have performed at our standards. Every team in the last years have gone out when there is two knock-out games. Although, at Anfield we could have gone really close if VAR hadn't overturned a decision, that has usually not been overturned by VAR."
