According to a recent report from Defensa Central, Real Madrid have turned down an offer worth around €15 million for left-back Fran Garcia.

The bid, which came from the Portuguese side Porto, was dismissed immediately as manager Xabi Alonso continues to rely on Garcia for the 2025/26 season.

Porto were actively looking for a player to strengthen the left side of their defence, and Garcia was one of the names high on their list.

They were prepared to pay between €12 million and €15 million to secure his services. However, Madrid made their stance very clear.

The club informed Porto that negotiations would not even begin, as Alonso had no intention of letting Garcia leave this summer.

Interestingly, this is not the first time Garcia has attracted interest. Earlier in the summer, AC Milan also explored the possibility of signing him.

But the defender has grown into an important role at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Fran Garcia’s stock has risen over the past year. During the Club World Cup, he played a key part in Madrid’s campaign, combining solid defensive work with impressive attacking contributions.

He even showcased a surprising goalscoring touch, proving he could offer more than just defensive stability.

These qualities have made him a reliable option for Xabi Alonso, who values Garcia’s versatility and energy on the flank.

That said, the recent arrival of Alvaro Carreras has brought new competition for the left-back position. Carreras’ performances have slightly overshadowed Garcia in recent weeks, but his situation is far from hopeless.

With a long season ahead, including La Liga and Champions League battles, Garcia is still expected to play an important role in Alonso’s squad rotation.
