A new report has detailed what sort of impact a guilty verdict around their 115 Premier League charges could bring upon Manchester City and the future of Pep Guardiola.

Despite the scale of the charges put against City in February 2023, the report stresses that the ‘big names on the football side’ of the club’s operation have been ‘going about their business as normal’ since the charges first emerged almost two years ago.

Those same people within Manchester City’s operation were reportedly assured by the club on the day news of the charges broke that they had done nothing wrong and would clear their name.

Sam Lee has also reported the belief from sources that Pep Guardiola would be more likely to stay if City were found guilty and did receive a harsh punishment, and would not want to leave them in a vulnerable position if they were, for example, relegated or docked points.

Speaking in September on the subject of the charges, and in light of fresh comments from La Liga boss Javier Tebas suggesting that sanctions must be placed on Manchester City immediately, Pep Guardiola insisted, “Wait for the decision. It’s not more complicated.

“I don’t know if he [Javier Tebas] is a lawyer, or all Premier League teams are lawyers. So wait! It happened with UEFA,” he continued. “If we did something wrong, we believe not, so we go to the independent panel.”

In the meantime, Pep Guardiola continues to rebuff any questions surrounding his future put to him in public media conferences, insisting that those awaiting a decision will find out when that has been made in due course.
