According to L'Équipe, South Africa have delayed their departure for the World Cup in North America, which runs from 11 June to 19 July, because of visa problems.

Bafana Bafana were due to leave Johannesburg on Sunday on a charter flight to Mexico to reach their training camp, but difficulties with visas for some players and staff prompted a delay.

The departure is now expected on Monday, and sports minister Gayton McKenzie earlier demanded explanations and promised measures against those responsible.

All players have received visas, though the assistant coach, the team doctor, the head of security and another staff member are still awaiting documents for the tournament in Mexico, the United States and Canada.

In Group A, South Africa face Mexico in the opener on 11 June in Mexico City, then the Czech Republic a week later in Atlanta in the United States, before meeting South Korea on 25 June in Monterrey in Mexico.
