Spanish midfielder shines as Arsenal outclass Forest in the Premier League

Arsenal remains strong in the Premier League. This Saturday, the London club defeated Nottingham Forest 3-0 at Emirates Stadium, in the fourth round of the English Championship. The goals for the Gunners were scored by Martín Zubimendi (twice) and Viktor Gyokeres.

With the victory, Arsenal provisionally takes the lead in the Premier League, with nine points from three games. Meanwhile, Nottingham Forest suffered their second defeat in the competition. Now, the team has four points after four matches.

How the match went

First Half

Arsenal controlled the entire first half. With possession of the ball and without being threatened by Forest, it was only a matter of time before the London club scored their goal.

At the 32nd minute, after a rebound from a corner, Spanish midfielder Zubimendi struck a beautiful shot from the edge of the area to open the scoring at Emirates Stadium.

Still towards the end of the first half, Brazilian defender Murillo left the field with knee pain. Forest is expected to update the status of the player, who was developed by Corinthians, in the coming hours.

Second Half

Less than a minute into the second half, Arsenal extended their lead with one of their main signings of the season. Eze received the ball on the left side of the field and sent a low cross to the Swede Viktor Gyokeres, who had little trouble finishing into the net.

Finally, at the 34th minute of the second half, Zubimendi appeared again in London. Belgian Trossard crossed the ball and the Spanish midfielder won the aerial duel against Williams, thus scoring Arsenal's third goal of the match.
