On Sunday Barcelona clinched La Liga by beating Real Madrid 2-0 at Camp Nou, and on Monday Spain’s press offered unified praise for a selfless Barça and sharp criticism of a fractured Madrid.

Barcelona are champions of Spain for the 29th time. Mundo Deportivo’s front page hailed the triumph after a landmark Clasico.

A Marcus Rashford free-kick and a Ferran Torres finish from a Dani Olmo backheel sealed the 2-0. El Esportiu hailed undisputed champions and noted a second straight title after 2024-2025.

Hansi Flick, backed by the home crowd hours after his father’s death, earned praise for bold selections. La Vanguardia highlighted Rashford over Roonny Bardghji, Ferran ahead of Robert Lewandowski, and Eric Garcia instead of Jules Kounde to contain Vinicius Junior, as Flick collected a fifth trophy since arriving.

La Vanguardia added that Barcelona have a project for present and future, while Real Madrid are in disorder. Mundo Deportivo portrayed Barça as ego-free, contrasting with Madrid’s infighting, mentioning an overwhelmed Arbeloa and an absent Florentino Perez.

Marca framed it as a title without rival, arguing Barcelona have built a side while Madrid have dismantled theirs, depicting the Merengues as decaying. It also pointed to a clash between Aurélien Tchouaméni and Federico Valverde as emblematic, with a deep and costly rebuild now required.

Diario AS called it a title for the ages and urged urgent change at a Real Madrid lacking soul and spirit, labelling this their worst season in 20 years. The paper called for a new coach and four or five key defensive signings.

Madrid are set to end the campaign trophyless, far from the hopes of unquestioned dominance when Kylian Mbappé signed two years ago, Marca noted. With three matches left, Barcelona could reach 100 points for the first time since 2012-2013.
